An Introduction

  I'm JT and this is what will become a blog about my backyard gardening experiences in Denton, TX.

Obviously this isn't my back yard.
But it is an important landmark in Denton.

Basically the purpose of this blog is to chronicle my ambitious attempt to grow plants for both aesthetic pleasure and for food. I hope to share my experience with the wider world and my future self in order to enhance knowledge of local gardening conditions, to learn from my mistakes, and to pass on any relevant information that I stumble accross.

For example, Denton is in hardiness zone 8a. This is good information when deciding on which plants to grow.

My experience with gardening is limited, but I still have some plants with me from my first foray into gardening in 2007. I grew my first vegetable from start to finish last season- a habanero pepper plant. I harvested more peppers than I could eat, so I gave many away and put quite a few in jars, some of which I still have.
